Atlanta Quilt Festival Call For Entries

Blue RibbonCALL FOR ENTRY! The Atlanta Quilt Festival seeks quilts of all genres and techniques for its juried exhibit which will be held at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA 8/1/18-8/31/18. Quilts must NOT be larger than 60 inches, must have a hanging sleeve, a label and must be available for display July 20, 2018 – September 1, 2018. Cash prizes and ribbons will awarded for Best Art Quilt, Best Traditional Quilt, Best Modern Quilt and Best of Show during Opening Reception 8/5/18.

TO ENTER: In a separate email for each entry, include a description of each quilt and 2 pictures, a full view and a closeup. Email your entry to AtlantaQuiltFestival@gmail.com.

The Clara Ford Foundation is pleased to once again co-sponsor the Atlanta Quilt Festival along with Hammonds House Museum and South Fulton Arts Center. The Atlanta Quilt Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The quilt exhibit will be on display for the entire month of August at South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA 30349. Activities will be held at both South Fulton (SF) and Hammonds House Museum (HH), 503 Peeples Street, Atlanta, GA 30311. Also the Brown Sugar Stitchers Quilt Guild will host special activist during its monthly meeting at Wesley Chapel Library in Decatur, GA on August 18, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.

African Mask Workshop Sold Out!

The Master Quilter Workshop held annually during the Atlanta Quilt Festival is SOLD OUT!

Mt. Vernon, NY resident Renee Fleuranges-Valdes will lead a master quilting class on Saturday August 12, 2017 during the 2017 Atlanta Quilt Festival. The workshop will be held at the South Fulton Arts Center from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Quilters will learn how to use improvisational appliqué techniques to make an African mask.

Although this workshop is sold out, visit Atlanta Quilt Festival on Facebook to check out other activities you may enjoy.

2018 Atlanta Quilt Festival Opens August 1st

The Clara Ford Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2018 Atlanta Quilt Festival exhibit opens August 1, 2018 at the South Fulton Arts Center located at 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. Quilting activities will continue throughout the month of August at Aviation Community Cultural Center, 3900 aviation Circle, Atlanta, GA, 30336, Hammonds House Museum, 503 Peeples Street, Atlanta, GA 30311 and South Fulton Arts Center.

The Opening Reception will be held August 5, 2018 from noon – 4 p.m. at the South Fulton Arts Center and will include a Quilt Market, a special doll exhibit of Elizabeth Smart dolls and a special African Mask exhibit.

Students in the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival “sold out” Beginning Dollmaking class worked very hard on their dolls. Cookie Patterson taught the class which was held at Hammonds House Museum.

The Clara Ford Foundation will offer a Beginning Quilting class Saturday, August 09, 2014. The class is part of the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival activities.

The class will be taught by Nina Moore at the South Fulton Arts Center from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The South Fulton Arts Center is located at 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA. A sewing machine is required for this class.

Holly Anderson, Georgia’s only certified quilt appraiser, will appraise quilts at Hammonds House Museum as part of the activities of the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival. Appointments are available between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014. Hammonds House Museum is located at 503 Peeples Street, Atlanta, GA 30310. Appraisals are $50.00 for each quilt.

All other activities of the Atlanta Quilt Festival except the Beginning Dollmaking Class will be held at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA.

For an appointment to get your quilt appraised, email O.V. Brantley at atlantaquiltfestival@gmail.com. Payment is due at the time of the appraisal.

Bisa Butler Will Be the Featured Quilter at 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival August 2d

Hammonds House Museum, South Fulton Arts Center and the Clara Ford Foundation are pleased to announce that Bisa Butler will be the featured quilter at the 2014 Atlanta Quilt Festival. She will teach a collage portrait workshop, lecture and show her quilts August 2, 2014 at South Fulton Arts Center. The cost of the workshop is $60.00 and will run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Please email Marva Swanson at mmswan@bellsouth.net to register. Ms. Butler will be the sixth quilt artist featured in the Quilt Lecture Series. Carolyn L. Mazloomi was featured in 2009. Judy Tipton Rush was featured in 2010. Juanita Yeager was featured in 2011,  Maria Elkins was featured in 2012 and Aisha Lumumba was featured in 2013.

Ms. Butler will lecture and show her quilts at 3 p.m. on August 2, 2013 at the South Fulton Arts Center Theater. Admission is $10.00 at the door.

The festival exhibit opens July 27, 2014 and runs through August 9, 2014 at the South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Butner Road, College Park, GA.
